Some of the mandatory evacuations for Medina County residents have been lifted as fire crews continue to battle a large wildfire in the area, according to the Medina County Office of Emergency Management.
, winds carried smoke and some ash into Boerne from the fire in Medina County.Boerne fire crews were also called to a fire in the Comfort, Texas area, though details on this fire are scarce at this time. The New Braunfels Fire Department is assisting in fire response efforts in Comfort as well.
With a red flag warning still in effect, officials in the area are concerned what Sunday will bring, with weather predictions of increased wind.A massive wildfire in Medina County that started Friday is now 60% contained, according to the Medina County Office of Emergency Management. Residential evacuations are no longer in effect, but county road 271 will likely remain closed until around 5 p.m. Saturday as fire crews work the scene.
