The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has made a last-minute attempt to stop the executions of two British prisoners held in Russian-occupied Ukraine.

The European Court of Human Rights has made a last-minute attempt to stop the executions of two British prisoners held in Russian-occupiedAiden Aslin, 28, and Shaun Pinner, 48, were captured in April while fighting with the Ukrainian Marines in the war-torn city of Mariupol.

‘The Court indicated in particular to the government of the Russian Federation, under Rule 39 of the Rules of Court, that they should ensure that the death penalty imposed on the applicants was not carried out,’ the court said in a statement.
