Finland's Prime Minister has upped pressure on British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to present his Brexit plan by the end of the month.

: European Union leaders are ratcheting up the pressure on Boris Johnson to present his concrete plans for a Brexit deal, with Finnish Prime Minister Antti Rinne giving his British counterpart just 12 days to produce written proposals, otherwise “it’s over.”

Rinne said he and French President Emmanuel Macron agreed at a meeting in Paris that Johnson has until the end of September to make known his plans for Britain leaving the trading bloc. Finland has some influence in the talks as it currently holds the rotating seat as president of the European Council of the European Union.

Downing Street did not appear immediately pressed for time. A source for Number 10 said: “We will continue negotiating and put forward proposals at the appropriate time,” theJohnson, who has committed to leaving the European Union with or without a deal on the October 31, has said he hoped to strike a deal at a meeting of EU leaders in mid-October.

Finland’s intervention comes after European Council president Jean-Claude Juncker called on Johnson to a written plan to solve the issue of the Irish backstop. Juncker warned that the risk of Britain leaving the EU without a trade deal is"palpable," adding that he could not say that “any real progress has been achieved.”
