Plans to build a new estate of ‘luxury family homes’ in the green belt have been voted through despite concerns that it comes before the official adoption of the region’s housing masterplan.

As part of the application debated by councillors, the homes in Oldham would be constructed in a cul-de-sac layout on a site at Bottom Field Farm on Medlock Road, following the demolition of existing farm buildings.
“The process on that has moved so far forward now that that is an important consideration. The principle of the scheme has been looked at and is considered to be acceptable. It would make practical use of the site.”
