“When you have the opportunity to bring in the iconic, longest-running NFL broadcasting duo, you take it, especially at a time when we are on the cusp of a new era in our expanding relationship with the NFL,” said ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro in a press release. “The NFL continues to ascend, and we now have more games than ever before, providing additional opportunities for Joe, Troy and our deep roster of commentators.
Buck and Aikman have been partners on Fox for the past 20 seasons, calling more than 300 games and six Super Bowls together. Their contracts at ESPN are for five years,The network, incidentally, will continue to air alternate “Monday Night Football” broadcasts featuring Peyton and Eli Manning on ESPN2 for 10 games this season.
