Performers at the concert included electronic musician Marc Rebillet, an alum of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts; Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon and Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug. Bun B from UGK, Maxo Kream, Zach Witness and Spaceboifresh also made cameos.Badu joked that she’d use the key to “get into all the bars” in the neighborhood, according to the WFAA report.
She also announced she will be releasing her own strain of recreational cannabis in collaboration with Berner’s Cookies, a marijuana brand. Her new marijuana brand, That Badu, has beenBadu’s debut albumfeaturing strains of ‘70s soul, was recorded in part at Dallas Sound Lab and won a Grammy for Best R&B Album. She has since released four more studio albums that have all reached the Billboard charts. Dubbed the “queen of neo-soul” and the “godmother of soul,” Badu remains based in Dallas.
