Man United have had a terrible start to the season and Erik ten Hag has explained some of the reasons why.

It's been a terrible start to the campaign. United have gone backwards and all but eroded all the progress built last season. They're already nine points off Manchester City with any hopes of a title challenge already snuffed out. They have been hammered by their rivals and lost to the league's other top sides. Their few wins have been narrow and fortunate affairs, relying on late drama and moments of singular inspiration rather than winning through a plan.
In that honesty, we saw the damning admission. 'The midfield balance is also not there.' It's true, but the fact it is is verging on a disaster for the Dutchman. Yet, even still, the manager has been unable to find a balance in the middle of the park. This is a particularly worrying development because he did find it last season. The combination of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen was the foundation on which last year's steady improvement was built upon.
