A number of energy firms are already amending future bills to reflect that energy help will continue beyond 1 April
Earlier this week, the energy secretary, Grant Shapps, said he was “very sympathetic” to calls to protect people from a 20 per cent rise in their energy bills in April.
Energy UK, a body that represents suppliers, urged the government earlier this week to hold the level of support at £2,500 and to “announce that quickly” so firms could price it into bills from April.
