Ms Donham, who was 21-years-old when she made the claims about Till, said she was unaware of what would happen to the 14-year-old and never identified him to his murderers. Timothy Tyson, a historian and author, obtained a copy of the controversial memoir after interviewing Donham in 2008 and told theFor decades, Tyson had placed the manuscript in an archive at the University of North Carolina and agreed not to make it public.However, last year he later handed it over to the FBI for an investigation.

“I tried to protect him by telling Roy that ‘He’s not the one. That’s not him. Please take him home,’” the memoir reads. The shocking statement is signed “Carolyn,” however, it is suggested that her daughter-in-law, Marsha Bryant, wrote it.
