Emmerdale viewers watched as vicar Charles Anderson exited the soap following the death of his father and guilt over his actions.
Charles has been trying to write his dad's eulogy and the feelings of guilt after mum Claudette asked him to conduct the funeral service for his late dad. However, Charles announced that he had taken a last minute spot at a wellness retreat as he exited the soap. "I’m quite happy on my own, you know," she replied, adding: "Sounds like your mind’s made up." He then responded to her by saying: "I know. It won’t be for long, only for a few days, I promise. I could take some time to think about dad, write the eulogy, get some sea air, no mobiles allowed. I really thought that’s what you meant."
Charles' temporary exit comes amid some huge changes for the soap, including the departure of executive producer Jane Hudson. Viewers took to social media to share their thoughts after the shocking scenes aired as one wrote: "So now Charles has gone, are they going to get in a vicar, who acts like a vicar and not a vicar, who acts like a complete t***".
