Emma Roberts has revealed details about her role in MadameWeb while speaking on the Shut Up Evan Podcast: 'Some people may think she's a superhero but not... like I don't have supernatural powers.'
Madame Web star Emma Roberts teases character details from the upcoming Marvel-Sony movie. Despite setbacks with Morbius, Sony's Spider-Man Universe is still going forward as a franchise. The studio currently has a number of films coming up related to the Marvel-inspired universe. One of them is Madame Web, with Dakota Johnson starring as the titular character. Directed by S.J. Clarkson, Madame Web has so far been one of the most secretive Sony projects based on the Spider-Man property.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY One of the lead stars in Madame Web is Roberts, who recently appeared on the Shut Up Evan Podcast, where she spoke about the new Marvel film. During the podcast appearance, Roberts teased a few details about her mystery character, who has yet to get her identity revealed. To be more specific, Roberts elaborated on what type of character she is definitely not cast as in Madame Web.
What I can tell you is I'm not a superhero. Some people may think she's a superhero but not... like I don't have supernatural powers. So I can tell you that. Why Madame Web May Be The Most Important For Sony's Spider-Man Universe In the case of Madame Web, pretty much all the cast members have their character names kept under wraps. While set photos have emerged over the last few months, it's still unclear who most of the stars are playing in Madame Web.
Given Madame Web's psychic abilities that let her tap into the spider world, Johnson's film may be the most important installment in this franchise. Madame Web has reportedly been teased to be Sony's response to Doctor Strange, especially in light of Marvel Studios' larger multiverse focus. This could truly be Sony's proper way to integrate its Spider-Man franchise into the Marvel Cinematic Universe or at least have more ties to it.
There are probably a lot of reasons why Sony is staying quiet about Madame Web, and it's potentially due to the film's larger story significance. Madame Web can help bring in more of the Spider-Verse angle into the MCU, especially as Sony and Marvel Studios get working on Spider-Man 4. Both studios are aware of how financially beneficial the Spider-Verse element has been for them, and it wouldn't be shocking if they want more.
