The government’s new emergency alert service is designed to warn citizens if their lives are at risk.
Why this is happening and what it involves
Oliver Dowden, the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, said: “Getting this system operational with the national test means we have another tool in our toolkit to keep the public safe in life-threatening emergencies. It could be the sound that saves your life.
The National Centre for Domestic Violence has advised individuals with covert secondary mobile phones to disable the alerts to avoid exposing the location of their devices.
