Elton John performs onstage during the 92nd Annual Academy Awards at Dolby Theatre on Feb. 9, 2020 in Hollywood, Calif., at the 2020 Oscars on Sunday night . The song is a nominee for best original song for John and longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin at this year's awards.
Sir Elton performed on a bright red Yamaha piano, dressed in a spangly jacket with a rocket pinned on the lapel. John's full-band performance of the soundtrack single was set in front of a screen with animated graphics to represent the movie, as well as a pair of gigantic stars reminiscent of John's iconic sunglasses. which otherwise leans on hits from the Elton John catalog. Shortly after his performance, John and Taupin won best original song.
