Barry Robson is in desperate need of a victory but faces a daunting task in Germany.
It is hard to see past the Germans. They are one of the favourites not only for this game but also the tournament. A result or performance in this game could, however, kickstart the Dons’ season. There's precious little cause for optimism where Aberdeen’s trip to Germany is concerned. Merely keeping the scoreline respectable would seem like the best Barry Robson can hope for after a dismal start to the domestic campaign. And even that might prove to be too much of an ask.
It’s a huge ask and one that I fear will be too much for them.It would be tough for the Dons even if they were in top form. But the way they’ve started the season is a cause for concern. Eintracht’s domestic form has been dull but they should be too strong for Aberdeen. The Dons don’t have a set system and are regressing under Barry Robson. Similar to Celtic and Rangers, the calibre of opposition will be a bridge too far to match.
