Mohamed Salah will depart Liverpool to participate for Egypt in their Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah will be rested for Egypt's first Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia - but will feature against Tunisia.
However, Liverpool rejected the approach as their stance has firmly remained that the former Chelsea and Roma attacker is not for sale. Reports suggest that Ittihad will not give up on the Egypt captain, despite the transfer window shutting on Friday , Saudi clubs still have until September 7 to register their players.
The likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, who opened the scoring for Liverpool against Unai Emery's side, Alexis Mac Allister and Trent Alexander-Arnold have all been selected for their respective country's international fixtures. Salah is among them and will be further rested by Egypt manager Rui Vitoria, the tactician confirmed, ahead of their AFCON qualifier. Ethiopia, who are ranked 142nd in the world by FIFA, have already been eliminated alongside Malawi.
