Edison Arts Foundation's Black History Month gala honors Al Green, raises $10K

The city and the foundation hosted the 2023 Black History Month Celebration Gala at the Quail Valley Country Club, where the Magnolia ballroom was alive with the vibrant colors of African prints and the sounds of music.“The son of the segregated South, born in New Orleans, Congressman Al Green has dedicated his entire life to elimination of all forms of discrimination,” Missouri City Mayor Robin Elackatt said.

Smith founded the Missouri City Juneteenth Celebration Foundation which has awarded approximately $200,000 in scholarships to students in Fort Bend County.
