The 2014 Tom Cruise action film Edge of Tomorrow might become a TV show, as Warner Bros. appears to be developing a live-action series based on the movie.
An Edge of Tomorrow TV show has been revealed to be in development by Warner Bros. Released in 2014, Edge of Tomorrow starred Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt in an adaptation of the Japanese novel All You Need Is Kill. The movie was directed by Doug Liman and received a rather favorable reception upon its release. Critics and general audiences alike loved the sci-fi action movie, as it earned a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and earned more than $370 million worldwide.
Development on Edge of Tomorrow 2 has been underway for multiple years, but the sequel has been essentially stuck in the same stage for a while. Doug Liman is ready to make the movie and has a script done for Live Die Repeat and Repeat . Liman has praised the new story, but scheduling Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt to return has been quite difficult. The last update on the sequel came in May 2021 when Blunt said Edge of Tomorrow 2 might be too expensive for Warner Bros. to actually make.
Despite the uncertainty about the status and future of an Edge of Tomorrow TV show, it is certainly an intriguing option for the franchise's future. It might mean moving the concept forward without Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt unless WB and HBO Max can lure them to the small screen for a rare appearance with massive paychecks. If that doesn't happen, then an Edge of Tomorrow TV show could serve as a reboot of the property.
