: Low-cost airline easyJet has come under fire after it asked a Twitter user to take down viral images of a passenger sitting on a broken and backless plane seat before a flight from London to Geneva
took off.
Twitter user @mattiasharris tweeted “EasyJet beats Ryanair to have backless seats...this is flight 2021 Luton to Geneva. How can this be allowed,” he wrote in a tweet tagging the airline, Ryanair and Geneva Airport alongside two pictures of a woman sitting on a plane seat with no back. The picture had been sent to him by his partner.He added: “One has to wonder how safe the rest of the plane was. This was her seat. The lady was moved to a spare seat once the flight was fully boarded.
EasyJet, which denied the passenger sat in the seat during flight, responded to the tweet by asking Harris to, which Harris refused to do. The move sparked outrage, with Twitter users calling out the airline’s customer service, while others demanded an explanation for the faulty seat. The tweet had amassed almost 8,000 likes within five hours, and was a top trending topic on the social network in the U.K.
