EastEnders character Whitney Dean will learn the heartbreaking news that hers and Zack's unborn baby has been diagnosed with Edwards’ Syndrome on the BBC soap next month
The duo, who are played by Shona McGarty and James Farrar respectively, will be told by doctors that their baby has been diagnosed with Edwards' Syndrome.
It begins when Whitney and Zack attend what they believe to be a routine ultrasound scan for their baby in February. Determined to accurately portray the experience of receiving such a diagnosis, and the impact it has on both the parents and their families, they will also aim to sensitively portray the decision-making process.Executive producer Chris Clenshaw shared: "It was imperative for us to work alongside Antenatal Results and Choices and SOFT UK to accurately present, and sensitively portray, such an emotional storyline that many parents may relate to.
The Chair of SOFT UK, Jan Fowler, also said the charity was "pleased" to be able to work with the hugely-popular soap.
