Detectives in East Harlem are investigating a deadly shooting on Wednesday morning that claimed a man’s life.

Law enforcement sources said the murder happened at about 1:49 a.m. on May 17 outside a flower shop and apartment building at 232 East 116th St., in responding to a 911 call about the shooting, found the victim, a 26-year-old man, with a bullet wound to his chest.

EMS rushed him to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Police have withheld his identity, pending family notification. Authorities have yet to ascertain a possible motive for the shooting, sources familiar with the case said. So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, authorities said.

According to the Citizen app, police were said to be searching for a suspect described as a man in black clothing who fled southbound along 3rd Avenue.
