Payment dates for people on Tax Credits-only and qualifying periods have also been announced.
The Department for Work and Pensions has confirmed that the payment window for the second part of the £900 means-tested cost of living support will open next month. Some eight million households across Great Britain, including thousands across Scotland, will receive £300 directly into their bank account from the DWP between Monday, October 31 and Sunday, November 19, 2023.
Eligible pensioner households will also receive a further £300 payment later this year as an addition to the Winter Fuel Payment - find out more here. Commenting on the next round of financial support, Mel Stride, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, said: “The best way we can boost bank balances is by bearing down on inflation, but as we get there, we are ensuring the most vulnerable households are cushioned from high prices with a further cost of living payment.
Jeremy Hunt, Chancellor of the Exchequer, added: “Halving inflation and getting price rises under control is the best way to support households struggling with their bills. But it is also right that we are helping the most vulnerable in our society, and this latest cost of living payment is part of a package of support worth £3,300 per household on average over this year and last to help those struggling the most.
For joint Tax Credits claimants, where one claimant receives Working Tax Credit and the other claimant receives Child Tax Credit, payments will be made into the same bank account as the Child Tax Credit.
