When asked why he hadn\u0027t learned from previous convictions, he said he saw others get away with it and continue to get their licences back.

Tyler Stephen Seeley was driving home with his four-year-old daughter on Jan. 23, 2020 when he suddenly veered into the southbound lane of Highway 41 and struck a truck with Gordon and Marjorie Classen inside.

“It has been established that the extent of your criminal conduct is much greater than captured by file reports, and while your addiction to alcohol is significant in your offence cycle, the Board finds that you still lack insight into the most important part of your criminal behaviour,” the Parole Board of Canada ruled in its Feb. 25 decision to deny Seeley both full and day parole.

“Your own submissions show the Board that you are motivated to change your life, and include a plan to assist in maintaining your sobriety in the community,” the board noted. The Correctional Service of Canada did not support parole, noting behaviour issues while in prison. CSC did support escorted and unescorted temporary absences, but Seeley said those have been on hold during the pandemic.
