Over the past few weeks, groups affiliated with the Sinaloa Cartel — the biggest drug-trafficking group in Mexico — hung banners from overpasses and billboards outright prohibiting the production or sale of fentanyl and its precursors in their territories.
U.S. politicians will likely continue to blame Mexico for not curbing drug trafficking and charges of complicity between Mexican government and cartels, while Mexico will blame inept U.S. policies and suppliers like China. The wild card is how the cartels will respond.
