A SUV driver intentionally drove into two cyclists Sunday morning, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office. Deputies are searching for a 2018 grey Ford Escape after the hit-and-run crash.
The driver hit two cyclists. One, a female rider, was in critical condition Sunday, while the second, a male rider, declined to be transported for medical care and is expected to be OK, spokeswoman Jenny Fulton said.
“We are currently working on tracking down the registered owner of the vehicle but in the meantime we are asking for the public’s help in locating the vehicle,” she said. The SUV is registered to an owner in the metro area and has a temporary license plate of 1142900. Anyone who sees the Ford is asked to call 303-271-0211.
Fulton said Sunday that “witness accounts” led investigators to believe the driver intentionally struck the cyclists. She declined to elaborate.
