Driver seriously hurt in Santee crash off state Route 125 [Breaking]
A 46-year-old man suffered serious injuries when he crashed his car — which overturned — near a river bottom in Santee late Monday morning, fire and sheriff’s officials said.
The crash occurred about 10 a.m. when the man lost control of his Toyota Camry as he exited off north state Route 125 onto Mission Gorge Road. The car careened across Mission Gorge Road and flipped onto its roof, landing on rocks near the river bottom along the road and trapping the man, officials said.
Firefighters freed him and took him in an ambulance to a hospital for treatment of injuries that were serious but not life-threatening, officials said.Santee fire Battalion Chief Harley Wallace told OnScene TV the driver was conscious and talking to crews. Investigators believe speed was a factor, and that the driver failed to stop at the intersection’s traffic light or negotiate the turn onto Mission Gorge Road, Lt. Chris Galve said.
