The driver who caused a Lancaster County crash that killed his mother on Tuesday may have been under the influence of drugs, police said.
Kline failed to check for eastbound traffic before trying to pass the tractor-trailer, and crashed head-on into an oncoming Ford Transit van driven by Matthew Carl, of Shillington, police said.died in the crash.The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office ruled Welch’s death accidental as a result of multiple traumatic injuries.The preliminary investigation showed Kline may have used drugs before the crash, police said. Test results are pending as of Thursday.
The speeds of both vehicles are not yet available but will be determined during the crash reconstruction investigation, police said.
