With pistols pointed at the former quantity surveyor, cops can be heard screaming 'put your hands where we can see them' before the pensioner emerges from the van. The killer grandfather later told police: 'Sometimes you have to do what you have to do even if it's wrong in the eyes of the law.' Other members of the two men's family wept as they filed out of the courtroom at Cambridge Crown Court following Monday's sentencing.Daughter Samantha Stephen shared the son with Joshua but was planning a move to America with her husband, who was in the US Air Force.
But Joshua opposed an application made to the family court to remove the boy from their jurisdiction.Two days later on March 29, Alderton went first to Joshua's home in Bluntisham and shot him twice in the hallway of his home in Bluntisham, at 9.09pm. Addressing Alderton, her statement read: 'I can only hope that having to live with what you have done to your family, not just ours, will cause you all the sleepless nights that we have endured as a result.

The prosecutor said that when Alderton's wife died in 2020, he had sold his home and was living at the time in a motorhome on a site in Willingham, Cambridgeshire. Mr Gair said Alderton was 'rapidly identified' as a suspect due to the family court case and sightings of the white Peugeot.In a victim impact statement read to the court, Gary Dunmore's mother Jane Phillips said: 'Both were killed in the most vicious, cowardly way with no opportunity for self-defence.'
