The healthy eating and well-being expert has shared his 4-2-4 breathing exercise that could help people struggling with sleep to drift off 'nine times out of ten'
SLEEPING HACK: Dr Michael Mosley's method involves a simple breathing exercise that helps slow your heart down
He said he completes his slow deep breathing method 'every day', which is one of his 'favourites'. The exercise is called 4-2-4 and involves inhaling through your nose for four seconds, holding your breath for two, and exhaling slowly for another four seconds, and your 'heart rate slows down',Dr Mosley said his exercises are 'very simple things to do', and 'most people' can fit them 'comfortably' into their day.
"You do that for a minute or so, and you'll be surprised that nine times out of ten, you'll just drop off to sleep. In the book, I kind of go into the science of that and also variants on it. It is amazing how much difference just changing your breathing pattern can do. It's something really, really simple, but it has a profound effect."
