A widespread water outage Monday prompted the University of Maryland to shut down dorms, classroom buildings, libraries and the health center.
A water main break led to widespread closures at the University of Maryland on Monday, as workers hurried to isolate the leak and restore water.
More than two dozen dorms and about 20 other buildings — including libraries, academic buildings and the University Health Center — had no or extremely low water pressure Monday, according to anFaculty in the affected buildings were directed to communicate alternative arrangements for classes to their students.that students in affected dorms were being directed to the student union for bathrooms, and to a recreation center and the Ritchie Coliseum for showers.
