Dozens of Ukrainian civilians were killed or wounded in a Russian strike on a convoy of cars in southern Ukraine on Friday.
Zaporizhzhia regional governor Oleksandr Starukh said that at least 25 people had been killed in the strike, while another 50 were injured. Starukh also posted pictures of burned-out vehicles on social media.“Today, the Russian army inflicted another vile attack on civilians in Mykolaiv — a shell exploded near a public transport stop,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his nightly address. “There are dead, there are wounded. ...
“All this can be stopped in only one way: liberation. And before Russia came, there was normal life everywhere on Ukrainian land,” he said. “And when Russia leaves, when we oust it, normal life will return. This is the only way. This is the way to our victory.”Russia has, throughout its seven-month war, targeted civilian infrastructure and civilians at large despite Kremlin leaders denying such allegations.
The strike occurred in one of the four territories Russia has sought to annex from Ukraine, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Friday.
