Ballard hasn’t given Reich a winning roster, but Reich has done nothing to make it better. He’s like a chef, asked to make a gourmet meal out of beef liver and lima beans, and bringing to the table Spam and a spoon. I’m also thinking of Patriots defensive tackle Deatrich Wise Jr. simply throwing Quenton Nelson aside to get after Ehlinger. Wise weighs 275 pounds, and hasn’t made a Pro Bowl in five seasons. Nelson weighs 330, and has gone 4-for-4 on Pro Bowls. Knowing that cannot possibly be true, I’ll wonder instead about offensive line coach Chris Strausser and assistant o-line coach Kevin Mawae, who made the trip to New England while offensive coordinator Marcus Brady was back home in Indianapolis, putting his things in boxes. What does “Strauss,” as Reich loves to call the guy when he talks him up – which is always –The problems with the Colts are bigger than any one position coach, obviously.
