Dow down 320-plus points as Tuesday losses accelerate

U.S. stock indexes faced sharp selling early Tuesday, as investors reacted to the likelihood of increased tariff tensions between the U.S. and China. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -1.07% was down 304 points, or 1.2%, at 26,130, the S&P 500 index SPX, -1.14% declined 1.2% at 2,896, while the Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, -1.22% retreated 1.3% at 8,015.
