Thirty-five years ago Doug Williams became the first black quarterback to start in — and win — the Super Bowl.
It’s a moment Williams, 67, compared to seeing Barack Obama be elected President.the former Washington QB told TMZ Sports
In 1988, Williams led Washington to an 11-4 record in the regular season and then to a Super Bowl blowout victory over the Broncos. He was also the first player to pass for four touchdowns in a single quarter and in a half in Super Bowl history, with Washington rallying from a 10-0 first quarter deficit with 42 unanswered points, 35 of those coming in the second quarter. Washington went on to win 42-10.
He finished his career with 16,998 yards passing, 100 touchdowns and 93 interceptions, but was also dubiously asked at the Super Bowl how long he had been a black quarterback.
