The former president may wake up on Xmas morning, knowing that he has been referred to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution by Jan. 6 panel.

Donald Trump could be heading into Christmas, facing further pressure over his actions around the January 6 riot as the House Select Committee is expected to release its criminal referrals just days beforehand.

The panel investigating the events that led up to the Capitol riots in 2021 will release its final report on December 21 following several high-profile live televised presentations and evidence obtained via subpoenas and witness testimonies. A video of Donald Trump is played during the sixth hearing by the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol in the Cannon House Office Building on June 28, 2022 in Washington, DC. The former president may hear on Christmas Day whether he's going to be prosecuted for the January 6, 2021 riots.
