Accused Capital One hacker appears to have posted Slack references to other breaches. Other victims may include a major international telecoms company and an Ohio government department.
The alleged hacker behind the mega bank breach may have also accessed data from a slew of other organizations. They include one of the world's biggest telecom providers, an Ohio government body and a major U.S. university, according to Slack messages sent by the accused and seen byadditional charges against the defendant are a possibility as the investigation continues.
But cybersecurity experts feared that the comments in the Slack channel indicated there were other leaks. “If this is true, we may be dealing with a serial criminal who used her professional skills to breach a number of different companies,” said Alex Holden, founder of cybersecurity company Hold Security.
Earlier in the chat, there are further references to cryptocurrency mining. Posting under the alias “paigeadele” alias on June 26, the user wrote: “For some reason i lost a whole fleet of miners all at the same time, so i think someone is onto me.”
