Dylan, an 8-year-old coonhound, was stuck in a drain pipe in Medford for a week near his foster home before a neighbor reported hearing noises coming from underground, township police said. It took police, firefighters and Medford Neighborhood Services nearly six hours Saturday to dig up the ground and remove the pet from the 18-inch pipe, police said.“When he was brought in, he had wounds all over his body and limbs,” said Dr. Robert Mankowski, co-owner of the animal hospital.
The pup was given several medicines and antibiotics over the past few days, as vets cared for his wounds.“For a dog in foster care to get confused and wander off is not a surprise, but in this situation, he wound up stuck down a drain pipe, which is very unusual,” Mankowski said.“He is very lucky to be recovering so quickly,” Mankowski said.
