She coached cross country, softball, track and soccer over a 22-year career for the Longhorns

Longtime Dobie coach Rhonda Foster will join the 54 Pasadena ISD athletes, coaches and teams that are already enshrined in the Hall of Fame. She and one of her cross country athletes, Scott Lengefeld, along with a rival in the pitching circle, Charla Moore, also get to walk down the red carpet Thursday night. She could have beaten the debut of the Pasadena ISD Athletics Hall of Fame by starting her own Hall of Fame.

"I'm very humbled by it. I'm excited. I loved every bit of my 22 years at Dobie. It was just a really enjoyable time for me coaching the boys in cross country, I loved coaching the girls in softball and I even had a stint where I was coaching soccer for seven years," said Foster, who also coached the distance athletes in track, while coaching softball."I was a busy lady there for a long time, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

That's just the tip of the iceberg for the athletes who blessed Foster's life and that of the Dobie faithful. As the head softball coach, her 1995 and 1997 Lady Longhorns took top honors in a sport that was still in its infancy in terms of UIL-sanctioned seasons. April Cook, Heather Martinez and Christa Williams fell one hit shy of tying the state record for most hits in a single game. For most extra base hits in a tournament, Foster watched Martinez, Nicole Myers and Williams set the state record at the time for most doubles in a tournament and Williams set the state mark for most no-hitters when she held Plano East and Humble hitless.

"At the time, I think it was the most people to view a girls sporting event in Pasadena. There were people all the way down left field, people all the way down right field. It was an electric environment. It was so fun. I think Christa had 32 strikeouts and Charla had 20 something, I mean they were tit-for-tat the whole game. I think it was Heather Martinez on third base with one out. I said, I'm squeezing. If it works fine and if it doesn't work that's fine too.
