Enhanced airport security, fewer Americans flying, longer wait times in airport security lines

Several thousand National Guard troops were called up around the U.S. to ensure airport security in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. U.K. prosecutors alleged the would-be bombers prepared to disguise the explosives as soft drinks in 500-milliliter branded plastic bottles.
