Disney+ movies have been added to PVOD after removal from the streamer, including their failed Harry Potter movie competitor Artemis Fowl.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Multiple Disney+ movies have found new homes on PVOD platforms, including the streaming service's failed Harry Potter competitor Artemis Fowl. The movie was one of many removed from Disney's streaming platform earlier this year, alongside popular TV series like Willow.

Now, TheWrap reports even more removed Disney+ films are available to rent and buy on PVOD platforms, including the critically panned Artemis Fowl movie. Other new additions to PVOD platforms include Stargirl, Hollywood Stargirl, Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made, and Wolfgang. As of writing, the only unavailable removed Disney+ originals include Magic Camp, Darby and the Dead, and Black Beauty.

Why Disney+ Removed So Many Movies A large purge of Disney+ content happened in May of this year, resulting in the removal of 12 movies and dozens of shows from the streaming service. By June, it was reported that Disney got a $1.5 billion write-off for content they removed from both Disney+ and Hulu. Because of this, it appears the removal of so many shows and films was motivated by profit.

While most of the movies removed from Disney+ are now accessible through PVOD, all the TV series cannot be accounted for. This includes shows like Willow, which was initially reported to be on hiatus following season 1 until the show was removed from Disney+. With so much content still lost because of the content purge, it's unclear where the still-missing media will end up if it manages to return.

Disney+ still has plenty of content on its way, such as more shows in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the highly-anticipated Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV show. However, this doesn't negate how difficult it became to find movies like Artemis Fowl and how impossible it is to seek out removed content without a home anymore. The PVOD releases of these latest Disney+ movies could mean more removed content from the platform will resurface in the future.
