TOKYO—Walt Disney Co. has halted some advertisements for its “Frozen 2” movie in Japan after its marketing campaign on Twitter faced criticism, people involved in the matter said.
The people said Dentsu Inc., Japan’s largest advertising and public relations group, was involved in the campaign, in which artists were paid to publish cartoons on Twitter praising “Frozen 2” without disclosing that the messages were promotional.
