After having his identity revealed to the world in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker asks Doctor Strange to cast a spell to restore his secret identity.
While the villains of pre-MCU Spider-Man movies would be a big selling point for No Way Home, the movie's real secret weapon was the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's heroes, both brought into the MCU by Strange's spell to worldwide applause.
No Way Home would have a hard enough time keeping Maguire and Garfield's returns under wraps before its release, and the movie would still become a worldwide crowd pleaser. Secret Wars is only multiplying that problem, which will call upon the movie to fit each of its multiversal cameos into a story that resonates as strongly as that of No Way Home.
Why Avengers 6's Best Cameo Twists Still Have A Problem Despite No Way Home keeping Maguire and Garfield out of its marketing, the writing would be on the wall that they were returning, especially with five villains from their respective franchises appearing. Obviously, this would do nothing to hamper No Way Home commercially, but the multiverse era of superhero movies has long since opened the door for any hero or villain to return at any time.
Rumors of who which Marvel actors will be returning for Secret Wars are likely to be even wilder than they were for No Way Home. Marvel could use the nuclear option and just announce upfront which past Marvel stars will return through the gateways of the multiverse in Secret Wars, but that would also rob it of whatever surprises it could land.
