A new project led by the University of Sydney hopes to work out how to eliminate hepatitis C from Australia by encouraging people to take up new, highly curative treatments. Hepatitis C is a blood-borne virus that is one of the major causes of liver cirrhosis, cancer, and liver failure. Treatm

Despite the existence of effective and low-cost treatments for Hepatitis C, many Australians still don’t seek treatment. The Motivate C project, led by the University of Sydney, aims to understand these barriers and inform treatment promotion, aligning with WHO’s goal to eliminate viral hepatitis by 2030.hopes to work out how to eliminate hepatitis C from Australia by encouraging people to take up new, highly curative treatments.

“People living with hepatitis C can remain symptom-free for many years, so treatment may not be a priority for them. We believe financial incentives may offer a simple, yet potentially effective, solution.”Australian Government endorsed the World Health Organization Global Health Sector Strategy on Viral Hepatitis
