The Phoenix Hotel reopened in 2020 and is set for an influx of Swifties
A once derelict and run-down hotel is now booked up a year in advance thanks to Taylor Swift and her fans. The thriving Phoenix Hotel in Kirkdale reopened in 2020 after the building was out of use for over two decades.
Since the stadium was granted the licence for concerts outside of the football season in 2018, local businesses have been thriving from the trade with huge names such as Take That playing there. The Phoenix is one of the local businesses to benefit, with members of the hotel team also getting tickets for Elton John's shows at the stadium last year.
Marie joined the team when the hotel was being reconstructed. However, hospitality was never an area she expected to work in when she first came to the city from her hometown of Leeds. Taylor Swift fans booking out the hotel is a major milestone in how far the business has come. Marie worked with the owners before the reopening to mould the hotel into a boutique venue which had lower prices than similar establishments in town.
She said: “From the smallest things, from someone staying on their anniversary, to someone recovering from an illness or a hen party, it’s all really nice and rewarding. When you’ve got children coming for their first match at Anfield, there are so many experiences which are enjoyable.”View gallery Marie recalls one guest who was staying over after recovering from a long-term illness.
