Suzanne Johnson, School District U-46′s deputy superintendent of instruction, will serve as interim superintendent following the departure of Tony Sanders.
The U-46 School Board’s selection of Johnson Monday night was unanimous. Board President Sue Kerr said her knowledge of the district, personality and deep dedication to the district make her the ideal choice.“Dr. Johnson has roots that go way back,” Kerr said. “I believe she has ties to Bartlett Elementary School. I know she’s an Elgin High School graduate. She’s had a 26-year career in the district so far.
Johnson’s salary and benefits will be adjusted to reflect Sanders’ contract for the 2022-23 academic year, for which. With more than 35,000 students, U-46 is the state’s second largest school district outside of Chicago.
