Dianne Feinstein's brief exchange with reporters about her prolonged absence from Washington on Tuesday didn't do much to assuage concerns about her ability to serve.
“You’ve been working from home is what you’re saying?”“Please either know or don’t know,” she added, before a staffer wheeled her away from the reporters.
Feinstein—whose absence due to shingles had hamstrung Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee and intensified calls for her resignation—returned to Washington last week for the first time since February. That allowed Democrats to confirm Biden-backed judicial nominees who Republicans had been able to block, and gave them their full Senate majority back. But it has done little to quiet concerns about her capacity to serve.
