Deer Park enjoying best start in eight years after defeating Bruins
Robert AveryBefore a packed crowd to celebrate Deer Park’s football home opener, the Deer roared out to a 35-0 halftime advantage and coasted the rest of the way in defeating former district foe Beaumont West Brook 49-21 at Clyde Abshier Stadium Friday night.
Special teams didn’t permit a kickoff return for a touchdown for the first time in a game this season, which helped Deer Park avenge a 28-14 loss to the Bruins last year. The offensive line was close to spotless in giving quarterback Rafael Robles time in the pocket and the backfield weapons the opportunities to excel.
It’s also why the offense has been racking up impressive yardage totals. Friday night, it was in excess of 400 yards
