Dave's Hot Chicken will start bringing the heat Wednesday with the opening of its first San Antonio restaurant on the West Side.
Located at 9602 State Hwy near Hunt Lane, the restaurant is a franchise that has dozens of locations throughout the country, but this will be the first one for San Antonio.Dave's Hot Chicken The menu shouldn't come as much of a surprise. The focus at Dave's is chicken, with menu options of tenders or sandwich sliders. Customers can choose the level of heat they want from levels that range from no spice to the dreaded"Reaper" that will challenge all heat chasers. Sides include kale slaw, fries and mac and cheese. Milkshakes are also on the menu with flavors of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.
The California-based restaurant got its start as a pop-up tent in an East Hollywood parking lot as four friends, Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy and Gary Rubenyan, pieced together $900 for a fryer, according to the Dave's website.
