Houston last lost in its season opener on May 1, 1-0 to San Diego.
Portland broke through in the first minute on an own goal. Katie Naughton attempted to clear the ball out of the box but kicked it into the upper right corner. Campbell had no chance of stopping the ball.
Returning from a knee injury, Dash midfielder Emily Ogle made her first appearance since last July. Ogle forced Bella Bixby to make a save in the seventh minute that would have been an equalizer. Houston’s defense had conceded only three scores across seven games and had the lowest goals against average in the league . The Dash were the only team in the NWSL to allow less than five goals this season before Sunday.
