Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright fell short in his bid to win a maiden World Grand Prix title after losing a two set advantage and being edged out on a last leg decider in his quarter-final clash with Luke Humphries.
The third seed had breezed past Gabriel Clemens and Ryan Searle in the opening two rounds but came unstuck against Humphries - despite scoring a higher average in defeat than in any either of his two victories. He appeared to be on course for the semis after winning the opening two sets but Humphries answered back to tie the contest - before winning 3-2 in the final set to knock out the 53-year-old two-time world champion.
