A winter weather advisory was in effect in the Sierra Nevada until 10 p.m. Wednesday.
As the latest in what has become a long, dark tunnel of winter storms promised more light precipitation and impactful winds for the Bay Area on Wednesday, National Weather Service meteorologist Jeff Lorber promised there would be sun again.“There may be some light at the end of the tunnel by a week from Thursday,” he said. “Literally, as well as figuratively.”
A period of light rain and still-heavy winds is expected to be replaced by heavier rain and heavier winds by the weekend. In the Sierra, snow is again expected to fall by Saturday. In the Sierra Nevada, a winter weather advisory was in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday. Residents in the Greater Lake Tahoe area, Lassen County and parts of Plumas and Sierra counties were expected to receive 2-5 inches of snow below 7,000 feet and 5-10 inches above it. Winds were expected to gust as high as 70 mph.
